While these search portals offer the fastest way to access court records in Allen County, access may vary by case type.
In-Person Access
Individuals who would rather inspect or obtain court case records in person should visit the Allen County Clerk of Courts. The clerk's office handles in-person requests for records, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Additionally, individuals can visit the Lima Municipal Court to review or obtain court records in person. The court is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

While the time required to process mail requests for records is unclear, the OPRA requires record custodians to "promptly" make requested records available to requesters and to provide copies within a "reasonable period of time." Fees for Court Records in Allen County
As outlined on the official request form, there is no charge to inspect records at the Allen County Clerk of Courts office. However, the clerk charges $0.10 per page for photocopies of court records. For certified copies (which must be mailed), the cost is $1.00 per page. Per Local Rule 2.12, emailed copies cost $2.00 for transmission plus $1.00 per page.

Criminal Records Access in Allen County
Individuals seeking statewide criminal records in Allen County should contact the Ohio Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI). As the designated keeper of criminal records, the BCI (through the Identification Division) provides access to statewide criminal records through background checks.
Nonetheless, even though Allen County courts do not maintain official statewide criminal records, they provide public access to local criminal case records via court portals or in-person searches.
